We went to a party ...

...and it was 104 degrees and everyone managed to forget to take pictures! A group of my parents friends in my hometown threw a wonderful summer supper for the badger and me Sunday evening. Despite the heat we had a nice time catching up with everyone!

The original plan was to have supper poolside but when the mercury started to rise, the party was moved inside! I did a little online shopping for the perfect frock to wear and ordered these cuties from ModCloth.

{Romantic Getaway Dress}

I loved the colors and the flower. Unfortunately this dress was rather disappointing. It appeared as if I was wearing a burlap sack and the zipper came off track the first time I put it on. Cute idea, the execution just wasn't there.

On to the next option:

{Live It Up Dress}

Loved the colors, the ruffles, and the dots. It fit nicely and was the perfect cotton-silk blend to keep you cool on a hot summer night. Unfortunately I was just too tall for the cut of this dress. If you are under 5'8 and don't have long legs/a long torso this dress is for you!

ModCloth is super easy and helpful to work with and offers free returns, so back they went!

I was determined to find something cute that would keep me cool and I ended up with this classic cotton dress by La Via 18 via the Saks Fifth Avenue sale!

Amazing Oysters.

The weather was perfect. The friends & family were incredible. The oysters were impeccable. The photographs to recap it, beautiful.

More to come as time allows but I couldn't wait to share Laura's fantastic photos & new blog!

Mission Accomplished: Party Success

The Stella & Dot party I hosted was a glowing success (and my house looks great after all the frantic cleaning!) The girls enjoyed playing dress up with the sample jewelery and got ahead on a litle Christmas shopping to boot! I highly recommend finding a stylist in your area.

Vino, important for any event!

The goods. It was very tempting to have so many cute pieces on my table.

I forgot to take a picture of the food, but the caramelized onion and rosemary flat bread and the pumpkin spice muffins with cream cheese filling welcomed rave reviews. I did snap a quick pic of the adorable (and super tasty) cupcake pops Alison provided for market research. (If you live in the triad area of NC and are interested in her creations I'll be happy to pass along her contact info!) The cupcakes on a stick were a huge hit!

A party (for you too!)

I'm hosting a Stella & Dot jewelry party at my house this week. I'm very excited to see some girlfriends, drink some vino, & try on some jewelry! I just realized that I don't have to just invite my real life friends, but my blog-friends can shop too! Just click this link, then click "can't make it to the show, find your hostess" link in the top right hand corner of the page, type in "katie," then peruse the fabulous and fun pieces!

I am loving these Garden Party Earrings.
The burnished teardrops necklace caught my eye, and it's even on sale!
Don't you think this Happy Flower Necklace could dress up any basic tee and make it fab?The Sofia Cluster Ring just screams holiday cheer.
I'm off to finish primping my casa and cooking for the non-virtual party!
