Last Sunday, after waiting a little extra for the rain clouds to part, my little sister graduated in the 168th commencement ceremony from our picturesque alma mater. I hadn't been to a graduation ceremony there since mine 9 years prior. Despite the soggy start, the clouds parted and a beautiful ceremony steeped in tradition commenced. Just a couple of grainy images to share from my cell ... hopefully better ones to share soon!
(I thought of Miss. "At Least I'm Skinny" when I donned my rain/sun red hat in honor of the feast of Pentecost & celebration of my sister!)
The rain/air conditioning / rain / ac combo we've been experiencing for the past several days has led me to have a full blown summertime cold. I'll be back to regular posting in a few days!

Last weekend marked the 5 year anniversary of taking the plunge into adult-hood by throwing up our black mortar boards, taking a splash in the fountain, & sweltering in polyester robes whilst listening to a really terrible semi-famous NPR anchor talk about … um I can’t remember.
So much has changed from age 21 to (almost) 27. I got my first job, bought a condo, enjoyed the single life, met my other half, enjoyed life as a 20-something, had some ups and down, made it for nearly a year after a lay-off doing odds and ends, found a new job, got engaged to someone I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with and began planning a wedding. I’ve grown into a person I’m proud to be.
It was wonderful to take a few steps back this past weekend and have some “old times” (I forgot how good cheese sticks are at midnight) with my favorite girls. We chit chatted (and I discovered a reader, Hi A!!), giggled, danced, sang, & enjoyed each other’s company. We visited our freshman year dorm rooms where we lived when we met 9 years ago in August. I loved the blast from the past but it really made me happy to be in the present.
Tonight marks the first of the celebrations for the little sisters of The Badger & me. They are both graduating from High School in the next few weeks and will head to college to make memories that they too will relive 9 years from now …
(If you would pretend its one week ago that would be great, mmm kay?)
3 years ago Cinco de Mayo The Badger & I drove to an adoption event and came home with this spotty guy 10 week old guy known then as Caliber (like the Dodge. His brothers were Tahoe, Blazer & several other car names.)
On the way home I said "he looks like a Pete." And so it was.
Pete loves naps with Dad...
Trips to the beach ...
As he grew he showed he was a big boy and wanted a pent house view...
But still liked to nap on Mom's toes ...
I can't believe my 10 pound pup grew into a 65 pound ball of fur (who still from time to time thinks he is a 10 pound lap-dog.)
I apologize for the un-planned break in posting … on the positive it did give you plenty of time to contemplate the re-birth of the bowl haircut ushered in my Mr. Chad & Mr. Beib(er). Moving right along …
Life has been hectic. My up-and-down with no regular work schedule was starting to get to me. Luckily my boss is pretty amazing and we sat down and remedied the situation. Starting next week I’ll have a little more order to my retail hour chaos.
Wedding planning is going swimmingly (next up cake & food .. yay!). I’m at the moment trying to schedule portraits, hair, & make-up on a day that works with said above crazy schedule & works with Mother Nature’s weather schedule (and my expecting photographer!) I’m pretty excited about it… just need to finalize a few accessories and we’ll be good to go! Any tips for portraits or things you wish you did with yours?
I was turbo busy and didn’t get around to my favorite post of the year last week: CINCO DE PETER-DOG! (Don’t worry, I have the morning off tomorrow and there will be shameless photos of the furry spotted beast posted by his proud mama.)
If I could ask for your good thoughts and prayers too … The Badger has been interviewing for a pretty fantastic position. We have been dealing with a lot recently on the front of an ailing&failing parent and we could really use a boost!
Springtime has just flown by and I’m not so sure where it went. I’ve got my 5 year college reunion on the horizon this weekend. I am SO EXCITED to catch up with the fabulous ladies I graduated with 5 years ago Saturday. The following weekend my sister graduates from high school. I can’t wait to be a proud sister at the ceremony I once participated in nearly 9 years to the day. We are then headed to The Redneck Rivera (Myrtle Beach) for a wedding Memorial Day weekend. I hope to have my camera fixed for some excellent “photo-sniping” to share!
So does this little Justin (who I refuse to type his name for fear of throngs of screaming teeny boppers (and frightening women) commenting on my blog)
WHAT IS UP WITH THE RESURGENCE OF
THE BOWL HAIRCUT
PEOPLE?
Little boys with "the bowl," adorable. Grown men, notsomuch.
I just don't get it. (Nor have I caught the beib(er) fever.)
I've been working alot of strange hours recently and my schedule is totally helter skelter which leads me to not feeling very creative in the posting department.
So, dear readers, is there anything you'd like to hear about in particular? Any questions that you'd like to know an answer to (with in reason)?
