Baked with Grace & Love.

Flour, sugar, & lemons came out of the pantry first. Then came the butter, milk, & sour cream from the fridge. The star ingredient, picked up on one of the many recent trips down east, sat on the counter. It was high time I get back to what I love.

We've had a tough go of it during this first part of summer. My husband lost his mom to pancreatic cancer, just 2 months after the dreaded C word was first uttered. We made the best of the cards that were dealt, and spent as much time as possible with her overlooking the ocean with her first grandbaby cooing by her side. The last few weeks were spent reliving the happier days through photos & stories, many of which I'd never heard before. The inevitable was being embraced with grace.

I'm overjoyed to be home, getting back into our little routine. I've missed the little things. Like baking a loaf of blueberry bread and blogging about it.

So sorry to hear about your MIL. I lost my mom to cancer in May so I know the heartache. I am thankful that she was able to meet her first grandchild before her passing as I'm sure you are as well. I will forever hold those memories and pass them along to G as I'm sure you will with F. Peace to your sweet family.

Thinking of you and your family. But happy that baking bread gives you some peace in this time. Love and blessings coming your way.
