DOD: Captivating China

Making a house a home is all about utilizing the pieces you love, the pieces you've collected over the years, and showcasing them in a way that gets a "wow" reaction. The mark of a good designer is his or her ability to incorporate in your treasures to create the best effect possible. I heard a quote from famed decorator Carleton Varney and couldn't agree more; "When a decorator first comes into your home to see what you have before he starts redecorating and tells you to get rid of everything, I suggest you get rid of the decorator."

I love to take a clients favorite object and incorporate it into my designs...and always with a twist! You'll be guaranteed to love it and it's a great way to stretch the budget to boot! I'm working on staging my house for resale and decided it was time for a change in the nook above my fireplace. With about a  $10 investment in some plate hangers, a new plant, and about an hour of my time, I created a plate collage centered around my prized wedding china. I arranged dinner, salad, & dessert plates along with an engraved silver plate tray on the floor first to work out the perfect arrangement before making the commitment to hang it on the wall. I'm thrilled with the result and smile when I get to see my pretty plates everyday rather than just special occasions.

Love it! I have our china on display in our dining area and I just love that it is part of the decor not just storage
