Yard Sale!

As the alarm rang at jolly 'ole 5:15am on a Saturday I thought to myself, "What the heck have you gotten yourself into?" Pete and I sprung to life, grabbed some breakfast (and kibble) and headed to the Badger's house to start "merchandising" the goods in the dark. By 6:50 the customers started arriving and making their best offer. I saw all kinds. The dealers came early looking for diamonds in the rough. We had an older gentleman searching for bowties. A sassy 4 ("but I'll be 5 in one week) year old neighbor bought a ribbon belt of mine that wrapped 3 times around her waist. (Yes, she haggled me down on the price $0.50!) There were junquers, there were grandparents, and there were lots and lots of families scoring major deals. ($10 for a new in box DVD player ... sweet deal for that guy!) What was my favorite deal of the day? A friend sold a iron & ironing board for $1.

By noon more than half of the items were gone and it was time to close up shop. After a load to the JL fundraising shop, a load to Goodwill, and a load to the dump, we were about $700 richer (divided amongst 6 people).

Not to shabby for a Saturday morning!

I bet you earned every dollar of that! After all that you need a little R&R before you go out and spend your $$.

Great job on the garage sale! I need to have one to get rid of tons of stuff but I keep procrastinating about it. You have just inspired me to do one soon!

That's great! I hate garage sales and always end up dragging everything to Goodwill. I'm sure I've missed out on some moolah over the years, but I just don't care to get it all together.
