I have one more fall favorite that I have failed to mention (due to its lack of "preppy-ness"!) This morning the temperature finally fell below 50 degrees and it was high time for "the velour" to make an appearance on the dogs morning walk. It kept me warm and cuddly on a morning when you can see your breath!
On another note...I need some "recessionista" mani-pedi advice! Painting my own fingers and toes has never been a strong suit of mine. Last night while watching the VP nominees debate I decided to give it a try. Well the toes (after the morning shower to remove the "outside of the lines" moments) look pretty decent in OPI's "Malaga Wine." The fingers are another story. Somehow there are tiny bubbles on most of them. Any suggestions on what I did wrong? I used a base coat, a coat of Essie's "Real Simple," and a top coat...with plenty of drying time in between!
Happy Friday!!

Hmmm.... are you shaking the nail polish bottle before you apply? That causes bubbles for sure. Instead, roll it in your hands to mix and then apply.
Hope that helps!
I like to wear velour tracksuits around the house too. Yes, people make fun of them, but who cares!?
Have a nice weekend!
Did you put lotion on right before you painted your fingers? From experience I have heard that the oils can cause the bubbles.
Hello! That mani issue is mysterious! I am so sorry you got bubbles. Could maybe the coats were too thick? Also, I once read that you should not shake your polish bottle, because that creates bubbles. Just roll it between your hands in order to warm it up!
I am the same though; I always have a better time with the toes!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I used to have that problem too, and its always with Essi nail polish. That brand gets thick really soon after purchase. Try to leave out the basecoat and apply very thin layers of colr, letting it dry completely between coats then apply a very thin top coat, if any at all. Good luck!
Toes I can handle, but my hands...they never turn out well! I go from a french mani because it's kinda fail proof!
Well...my answer is I always pick up the phone and make an appointment to have someone do mine because in spite of the many years of painting experience I have I cannot neatly paint a little centimeter of nail, finger or toe, to save my life! Hmmmm maybe that is just what I need to do this weekend...indulge myself a bit.
Hmmm. I don't know. I've never had that happen. Was it old polish?
I get those bubbles too. I have heard the no shaking, roll instead rule. The funny thing is, when I get them done,I don't have bubbles but the mani-chick shakes the bottle to death.
I'm going with the thick polish factor. Was it old? Maybe the lid wasn't closed tight.I have 4 daughters so it could be my problem.Good luck! Please post the solution!
I have no advice to give. I can paint my toes, but the fingernails are a whole other story!
Sometimes if you shake the bottle before applying it can cause bubbles... better to roll the bottle between your palms instead. Good luck!
I actually paint my own because I'm never satisfied when someone else does it.
For the bubbles, everyone is right.
Your nails possibly had oils on them, the polish was applied too thickly, or one of your polishes has gone bad, (thickened up). If your toes were painted with the same polishes and process, maybe you applied it too thickly on your nails. Also, helps if you wait a couple of minutes between coats.
Good luck!
I love 'recessionista' - I will be plagirising you with this one!! My tip re mani pedi is clear polish or buffing - easier and you can't see the mistakes!
oh nothings wrong with velour, i love it with some uggs when its freezing cold!
and tilt the bottle slowly, bubbles disappear
recessionista mani/pedi. hilar. i think that is one indulgence i just cannot give up. i love my mani/pedis just WAY too much.
