I'm in the market for a new pair of jeans and tried (and failed) in shopping for them during tax-holiday weekend. My failure, mostly due to Gap being under renovation and very crowded, also had a winner.
Being a long-legged lady I have been a devotee of designer denim since High School. Post college I discovered that Joe's Jeans were perfectly made for me with just the right inseam & rise at the waist. Unfortunately while these jeans are my favorites, they are a bit (ok, way) out of the budget at nearly $200/pair.
I heard rumblings of Gap's "Long and Lean" fit and decided tax-free weekend was the time to try. After waiting in the dressing room line for a while, I was amazed to find that jeans for under $100 were long enough and looked great! I do seem to be "between sizes" though ... is anyone out there a "long and lean" devotee? Can you tell me if they shrink/stretch? If a size 6 is a bit small but a size 8 was a bit big, what would you suggest? Thank you!

Joes are amazing. I do have some jeans from Gap that are great too though.
I love L&Ls! They stretch really well, they usually feel snug when I first wash/wear them but after an hour or so they're fine.
I'd get the 6 because Gap jeans do stretch out a little bit. And no one likes a saggy butt!
And the vitamins are for my HAIR...not a baby! haha :)
I LOVE Joes but definitely agree that Gap's are alot better on the budget! I always find that mine stretch so I would go with the 6.
ughhh i work at Buckle and tax-free weekend kicked my ass.. 40% of our merchandise is Denim. I agree with prissy southern though...I own about 5 pairs of Joes, amazing quality denim. If you're looking for a great trouser jean, Sevens Dojo's fit are my all-time favs and for sexy jeans, I'd do Citizens of Humanity or Rock and republic.
I use to be a manager for Gap and Gap Kids and LOVED the Long and lean jeans. They fit great when you need a little more in the inseam, but also need the length. The jeans will stretch, so I always told people even if they fit a little snug go with those. If you get the bigger size by night time they will be falling off of you!
I have just recently gone back to GAP jeans because they were under $100! HA! However, they have a new denim program where if you buy 3 pair of jeans you get the 4th FREE!! Now from what I understand the jeans don't all have to be purchased at the same time but they do have to be purchased in store. They give you a little punch card:)I find the jeans strech and they shrink in length
We always need to go for the Long or Tall sizes, and it sounds like maybe we should give these a try!
Have a great week!

I actually work at Gap, and the L&L's will stretch just a bit, so I would go with a size 6. I bought my regular size, and I'm having to keep washing them to try to shrink them! I love the L&Ls!!
Gap redesigned their entire line of women's denim this year, which is why a lot of women are finding that they can fit so well in this year's new styles. I am a huge fan of the Curvy style as well. I'm tall & skinny and the Curvy gives me a little boost in areas where I have nothing!
Oh and ps - Imjustagirl - we aren't doing the denim punch card anymore. Sorry!
I am waiting on a big order of Gap jeans. I used to like the Long and Leans but the butts do stretch out. I would go with the smaller size. Gap's descriptions do say that they redesigned their denim to fit better in the seat and not gap. I ordered every style that looked cute and I'm waiting to try them all on.
I've had the long and lean jeans and they do stretch a bit, so I think you'd be fine with the smaller size! They are some good jeans, I agree!
I am just like you. After years of ill-fitted jeans, I discovered designer jeans in college. They fit me perfectly.
Fast forward several years and I decide to try to find some cheap alternatives for trendy styles. I shop the GAP. I figure the Long & Lean should work. NOPE. My sister wears long & lean and she's 5'4". That is not LONG people.
And I'm always between sizes there too. I tried J. Crew and other basic stores with the same problem. They just don't make pants long enough. And I'm not even that tall.
I have one pair of the Long and Lean jeans and mine stretched out. I say go with the 6!
I found a great pair at Gap this weekend too... for $7!!! They were the first pair of Gap pants to ever fit me. I ended up going with a size bigger.
I heard Gap just redesigned a bunch of their denim and that it's pretty great! You'll have to let us know how you feel about it later on for sure! Hope they work out for you!
