College brought me many a babysitting job to which the kids tried to teach me Playstation and Madden '02, but I was always miserable given that my video game skills remained loyal to SuperMario 3 (much better than 2) and Tetris. My college roommate brought back her original Nintendo to our apartment Junior year and that act brought glorious duckhunt competitions. My ace "gamer" (and by gamer I mean grew up with an original Nintendo in their house, none of that fancy Sega or computer stuff) friends would always make fun of my "leaning" style to make Mario or Luigi go more to one direction or the other (forget the buttons, if you lean into it you'll definitely win. sike!). If I had only known then that I was ahead of my time.
Enter my reemergence into the land of babysitting and the advent of the Wii. My leaning has brought me MAD SKILLS when it comes to one and only one game: Cow Racing. The 10 year old I'm with twice a week can beat me at all other Wii Sports & Games, but I prevail at Cow Racing ... and it drives her nuts!
So today's Tuesday Topic (in honor of Tetris turning 25 last week) is:
What is your favorite video game, then and now?

True to form, I would have to say Super Nintendo system Super Mario World... xxxooo
Then: Totally Super Mario 3. It was the best of those games by far. I was also a fan of Mario Kart for Super Nintendo.
Now: I heart the Wii Fit when I'm trying to work out...and I also like Super Paper Mario (which tries to be a Mario game...but does not compare to SM3) and Mario Kart for the Wii which is awesome :)
I was always around Nintendo systems, mostly because I have an older brother. My all time favorites are Super Mario 64 for N64 and Super Mario 3 for the original.
My favorite used to be the old school Mario Brothers on Nintendo - so much fun! My favorite game now would have to be bowling on the Wii. :)
I still love Mario 3 as much as I did then, though I rarely play, as I don't have any sort of video game thing! My family didn't get the original Nintendo until well after Super Nintendo had come out, but I still loved it!
haha The cow racing sounds awesome! I had no idea it even existed!
It will always be super nintendo for me! My mom never allowed me to have one so when ever I went over to my cousins house I would spend hours in the basement playing it! Super Mario world and Donkey Kong were my favs!!
I want a Wii soooo bad! My favorite video game is Ms. Pacman...but right now I just bought Sims 3 and I love it! I'm glad to help with the column girlie :) Hope you have a fabulous week!
Duck Hunt was my favorite then, and Cow Racing and Boxing are my favorites now!
Now, nothing. But then, Frogger. I used to dream about getting an Atari before my parents finally gave in.
Then and now - Tetris. I think my need for things to be neat and orderly is a real advantage to stacking those little blocks just right!
Fun post!
haha ... how much fun! We still have a super nintendo at my parents house and we have some seriously competitive games of Dr Mario around holidays!
Wii is so much harder than the old Nintendo systems. Then again, according to Wii, I'm an 82 year old woman.
so glad becky could help you with the column! i love the wii!!!! we weigh in on it once a week.
i have tried the cow racing and fail miserable every time!!! nothing beats original nintendo mario and dr. mario
I am terrible at new video games, but I used to be pretty good at the ones I grew up on like Duck Hunt, Super Mario Brothers, and Tetris. Especially Tetris. I started playing again on my phone and it's just as addictive as I remember!
