The Fixer Upper

On Wednesday, my Sister let me know that she had pre-ordered Mary Kay Andrew's new lady lit book, The Fixer Upper, for my birthday (tomorrow). By pre-ordering, I was given a signing ticket to an author event at Quail Ridge Books. I was ecstatic! If you haven't read any MKA books, I highly suggest them. (Hissy Fit & Deep Dish are my favorites)

I enjoyed listening to the little insights the author had to say about how the book came to be. One of my favorite topics she touched on was supporting the independent bookseller. You've heard me harp on supporting locally owned businesses before, but it was refreshing to see someone who sits upon the top of the NYT bestsellers list to say "forgo the discount big box and support the little guy like Quail Ridge Books."

If you live in the triangle area, or even are just passing through, I suggest you stop in Quail Ridge Books. They are more than willing to help suggest a book on any type of topic for you. They have made Raleigh not just a "dot on a publishers map that is not Atlanta or Miami" for book signing events.
