... we all scream for ICE CREAM!
After giving up ice cream for lent, I truly realized how I love the sweet creamy delicious frozen treat. (I also realize that replacing my nightly low-fat ice cream or yogurt with a cookie, brownie or cake has caused me to gain a few lbs, but I digress...)
It all started with the Baskin Robbin's clown cone: Despite the sheer terror that runs through my body upon the sight of a clown, I loved the ice cream and icing concoction.
As my taste buds matured I realized the delight that was Colombo (does that even still exist?) frozen yogurt from the gas station near Mom's shop. Chocolate & Vanilla swirl with sprinkles from TCBY became a weekly pre-piano lessons stop. On a high school summer trip to France I discovered the M&M McFlurry. I thought I'd found a secret delight not available in the states. (Boy was I wrong as they had debuted it during my absence. Saving that different spoon only to find they had them here was such a let down.) In college, I was ecstatic to find the frozen yogurt machine in my dining hall. Then my roommates introduced me to Coldstone & "The Birthday Cake Remix." And last summer there was Pinkberry and its swirly goodness. A Rita's opened during Lent near my house and that shall be my next treat to try.
The typical "ice breaker" question of, "say your name and your favorite flavor of ice cream" is very difficult for me for I celebrate plain jane vanilla bean all the way to pomegranate lime. Oh the frozen goodness ...
What is your favorite ice cream treat?

hands down - mint chocolate chip ice cream in a big ol' waffle cone!! LOVE it!
Mmmm make it a good one!!! I love good ol' fashioned vanilla! Xoxo-BLC
Pinkberry original with almonds and chocolate chips or coldstone cake batter when Im bad.. xxxooo
I could never pick just one, like you, but I at home I have 2 reliable faves: skinny cow sandwiches & caramel drumsticks! Yum.
Baskin Robbins Rocky Road totally rocks! But Rita's is so nice and creamy - reminds me of Carvel soft serve. However, Coldstone's Ghiardelli chocolate with marshmallow and almonds is a great substitute for BR Rocky Road and I love their Mint Choc Chip too.....Obviously I could go on and on. Can you tell I like ice cream? :)
completely forgot about Columbo until just now! ooooh that was good stuff, wasn't it?!
as for ice cream- dulce de leche, blue moon or oreo. DQ cup-cakes (a mini-sized version of their cake) takes the cake for my fav' ice cream treat!
kHm
MMMM yum - Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip is my all time favorite! And I loved the clown sundaes from Friendly's when I was a kid - the frozenish Reeses Pieces on the bottom were my fave!
You HAVE TO try Rita's - I literally drive 30 minutes (closest one) at least once a week to get some, I LOVE IT! Luck for me. my uncle owns a bunch in Baltimore so we had a stocked freezer when I lived at home!
Mmmm, TCBY white chocolate mousse. But as far as ice cream, bring on the chocolate with chunks of brownie. (Ben & Jerry's makes a good one.)
I'm so glad you are able to enjoy this again!
I've always wanted to try those clown things from Baskin Robbins...so they're good eh??
I'm a die hard Coldstone fan now though. Peanut Butter Cup Perfection all the way! I also heart the Chocolate and PB at Baskin Robbins...do you notice a pattern?? :)
oh I am ALL about the chocolate!
Goodberry's...tres, tres YUM!
congrats you won my smathers & branson giveaway. xoxo KAG
Mint choc. chip with hot fudge...or cookie dough...or Oreo ice cream....or vanilla wiht strawberries and crushed grahams...hmmm...it really is hard to decide.
thank you SO MUCH for your tip! Glad to know I'm not the only crazy one... I will definitely give the hammer thing a shot!
There is an amazing ice cream shop near my house that has cinnimon, my favorite. When we were little it was a big treat to go there and I always got cinnimon!
clown cones have forever been my absolute favorite :) preferable in strawberry but i like vanilla too!
I could never choose! I like so many different flavors depending on what brand or shop its from, or whether its ice cream, gelato, sorbet, soy "ice cream", custard...etc.
Did you know Goodberrys is opening in Cameron Village this summer? Boy, am I in trouble!!
mmmm I also LOVE TCBY white chocolate moose but the only one by me is in the cincinnati airport so I usually stick with good ole ben and jerry's cherry garcia. SOOOO yummy!!!
Lime sounds delish!
Yum, I remember the clown cones from back in the day - there were many times when my clown head would fall off so my parents would have to buy me a second one!
I love love love ice cream! I'm a sucker for extra chocolate, dark especially. I LOVE gelato! I could live in Italy and eat gelato every day...
I tried the new Rita's - it's pretty good. Definitely not ice cream, but it's nice to change it up. Check out their calendar when you go in to see when they have their buy one/get one free quart days. I tried birthday cake and orange cream last time and they were both good, but my favorites are mint choc. chip, choc., and coconut.
Happy ice cream eating!
I love soft serve vanilla ice cream in a cone with rainbow sprinkles!!! Yummy :)
I think you may be the only other person on the Earth who could possibly understand that I could (and sometimes do) eat either cold stone, ritas (you HAVE to go get a gelati!), fro-yo, basically any cold yummy goodness every night.
We just got a pinkberry knockoff (still delicious!) here. And I go...almost...every day... ugh! :)
Two of my favorites are:
1. Marble Slab Birthday Cake flavor with rainbow sprinkles- such a child at heart, I know
2. TCBY White Chocolate Mousse Yogurt- mmm, this takes me back to my childhood!
Do you see a theme??
i love clown cones and cannot find them anymore!!!! and i like cotton candy with gummi bears. cute blog!
I gave up ice cream once when I worked for an ice cream parlor, talk about crazy! haha. I love coffee ice cream with peanut butter :)
