Why is it? (Tormid edition)

...that any time there is severe weather in the south, the news always interviews the large and in charge accent flalin' tobacco chewin' rednecks? Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against these people but when a tv camera is present, please try and put together a coherent sentence unlike the following I just heard coming from a gentleman very close to my hometown:

"riiiight der, see big ole drk cloud, that thre is that tormid. ooo we ain't got no power in the mobile home yonder on chicken foot road." The anchor in the "big city" didn't even know how to respond to that one aside from saying, "stay safe sir."

Soon the camera man cuts back to the news room and the meteorologist zooms in with the fancy radar to "street level" to reveal some choice names: possum trot road, chicken foot road, hogs breath way, and my favorite swine road. I couldn't even make this stuff up if I tried!

I'm done with this rant. In all seriousness, it sounds like we are in for a wild weather weekend in the South ... stay safe!

Could he possibly be missing some teeth to really complete the picture?

Ha Ha! They do the same thing here in Texas! We always laugh and say where did they find these people?

Well, they also do that right here in Tornado alley aka the Midwest. It's great fun for all. I've decided they are the only people foolish enough to talk to news reporters, ha!

Oh trust me, we have the same issues where I'm at in north Florida...I'm originally from up north so sometimes when I watch the news I have to remind myself that this IS in fact the news and not an SNL sketch.

ROTFLMAO I just said the same thing to my dh the other day when we were watching tornado coverage. We must have been watching the same news. I swear they always find the most uneducated sounding person to give a personal testimonial.
