Calling Cards.

(Picture name & contact info where the white block is!)

What used to be the norm for Ladies and Gents of the 1950s and 1960s has become passe in the age of email, cell phones, and facebook. People quickly type emails rather than take the time to sit down, pull out your stationary and stamps, and write a letter. Aside from the South, people don't tend to just "drop by" un-announced for a visit or a cocktail. Some of the personal touches seem to have gotten lost in the technological revolution...

...until the Preps of the world decided to keep "personal paper" a priority! Companies such as English Tea Paperie, Boatman Geller, Cranes, and the Paper Cafe keep the traditions alive by offering cute and sophisticated invitations, photocards, and stationary.

I decided it was high time for a little "retro" tradition in my own wallet. Meet someone new and want to exchange personal information when a business card just wont due? You could pull out your blackberry and quickly tap in their information. Or you could dig through your purse for a scrap of paper to scrawl out your email or phone number. A lady would have a calling card.

Above is the fabulous design my Graphic Designer friend created for me! After uploading the image to OvernightPrints and waiting a few days, I have my very own personal calling cards! I'm so very excited to be able to bring back a great tradition from decades past. Afterall, I am a lady-bird!

Calling cards are fab - it's such a shame the tradition has practically died out - you'll hve to go on a mission to revive the trend! Smythson had some that are to die for.
